Friday 15 December 7.30pm | Old Glossop Parish Church
“Extraordinary originality, superb simplicity, and fingers of steel hidden behind muscles of velvet. He is an otherworldly young man – he plays with the genius one finds in those who know how to forget themselves, naturally placing themselves at the right point to meet the music, this mystery of the moment” Le Monde, Paris
Award-winning pianist Viv McLean returns to Glossop Music Festival for our Christmas Concert, which will feature the beautiful Goldberg Variations by Bach. Alongside this iconic piece, Viv will perform Monti’s Csárdás with violin from Tom Elliott; some lieder, mélodie and English song with soprano Claire Surman; and a piece (or two) with Katherine Baker, principal flute with the Hallé. The ensemble will be joined in a rousing and festive finale by James Manson on double bass. There may also be some special Christmas music featuring our incredible cast of soloists…
Available on the night will be mulled wine and mince pies along with our usual bar of wine and soft drinks.
Tickets are free and available on the door. We will be accepting donations (cash or cheque) after the concert to reflect what audience members felt the concert was worth. Reserved seating is available for Friends of Glossop Music Festival who notify us by email of their seating requirements before 11 December. Unreserved seating (some with restricted view) is available in the rest of the church on a first-come, first-served basis. For details of how to become a Friend please click here.
