Cello Recital with Sarah McMahon

Sarah McMahon, who led the cello section at last year’s festival, returned to Glossop to play an eclectic programme which included the First Suite for Solo Cello by Bach. Sarah, Principal Cello of the Academy of Ancient Music and a founder member of the Callino String Quartet was joined by Katherine Baker, Tom Elliott and Raymond Lester for a performance of Mozart’s Flute Quartet in D major. Katherine and Sarah also played The Jet Whistle by Villa-Lobos which brought the concert to a rumbustious climax and sent a typically warm and appreciative Glossop audience home with a distinct spring in their step.
