About this event
The groundbreaking Apollo Saxophone Quartet has been at the forefront of the British contemporary music scene for over 35 years, and has made the largest single contribution to the saxophone quartet repertoire in the UK.
The first half of this concert features five new works, specially commissioned for the groups' 40th season, each showcasing different aspects of the quartet’s highly distinctive sound world:

The second half sees the premiere of a handpicked selection of vintage cartoons, some dating from as early as 1928, with live music brilliantly re-orchestrated from the original scores by the members of the quartet.

There are no tickets for this event as we want world-class music to be accessible to all. Simply turn up and choose a seat.
We ask our audience to donate as generously as you can at the end, according to your means. The money raised will help fund the week-long Summer Festival, comprising a variety of concerts, events and an extensive education programme available to all the primary schools across Glossopdale and the High Peak.
Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Doors will open at 18.30, when refreshments will also be available.
