Kathleen Ferrier award-winner and former BBCNew Generation artist, Kitty Whately is one of the UK’s most characterful mezzo-sopranos. She is in high demand on the operatic stage and concert platform, and a highly acclaimed interpreter of art song. We are delighted to have her sing in Glossop, where she will be joined by multiple-prize winning conductor and accompanist, William Vann on piano for a sublime recital of English song.

Kitty Whately
Kitty regularly performs recital programmes in all the major chamber venues in the UK, partnering most often with Simon Lepper, Joseph Middleton, and Anna Tilbrook, among many others. Kitty makes regular appearances on BBC Radio 3, in concert and in recordings made for Radio 3’s Composer of The Week series.
She has sung roles and works with many of the top orchestras and opera companies, including the Royal Opera, Scottish Opera, Opera Holland Park, English Touring Opera, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic, Symphony, Scottish Symphony and Concert orchestras, London Philharmonic, and many more.
William Vann
William is a multiple-prize winning conductor and accompanist, celebrated for his interpretations of British music. A graduate of Cambridge and the Royal Academy of Music, his extensive discography includes over twenty-five recordings for Albion, Champs Hill, Chandos, Delphian, Etcetera, Navona and SOMM with artists including Mary Bevan, Dame Sarah Connolly, Sarah Fox, Jack Liebeck, Nicky Spence, Roderick Williams and Kitty Whately. His world premiere of Parry’s Prometheus Unbound was shortlisted for a 2024 Gramophone Award.
William is Director of Music at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, Musical Director of Dulwich Choral Society, founder of the London English Song Festival and was recently appointed Chorus Master at The Grange Festival.
